Title: “Eco-Dance Challenge”

Objective: To engage year 8 dance students in a fun and educational game that incorporates dance actions and movements related to recycling, composting, and trash collection.

Instructions: 1. Divide the students into small groups of 4-5 members. 2. Provide each group with a list of recyclable items, compostable materials, and trash items commonly found in their surroundings. 3. Explain that each group will create a short dance routine incorporating movements that represent the actions associated with recycling, composting, and trash collection. 4. Give the groups some time to brainstorm and plan their routines. Encourage them to think creatively and use their bodies to mimic the actions involved in each process. 5. Once the groups are ready, have them perform their routines for the rest of the class. 6. After each performance, allow the other students to guess which actions and movements were related to recycling, composting, or trash collection. 7. Award points to the groups based on the accuracy of their guesses and the creativity of their routines. 8. Rotate the groups and repeat the process until each group has had a chance to perform. 9. At the end of the game, have a brief discussion about the importance of recycling, composting, and proper trash disposal. Encourage students to reflect on how their dance movements represented these actions.

Optional: You can also record the performances and create a compilation video to showcase the students’ creativity and promote environmental awareness within the school community.

Note: Ensure that the dance movements are safe and appropriate for the students’ age group.
