One fun and interactive “get to know you” activity for middle school students is called “Two Truths and a Lie.” Here’s how it works:

  1. Divide the students into small groups of 4-6 people.
  2. Each student takes turns sharing three statements about themselves - two of which are true and one that is a lie.
  3. The other group members listen to the statements and try to guess which one is the lie.
  4. After everyone has made their guesses, the student reveals which statement was the lie and shares some additional information about the true statements.
  5. Rotate turns until everyone in the group has had a chance to share.

This activity not only helps students learn interesting facts about each other but also encourages active listening and critical thinking as they try to identify the lie. It can be a great icebreaker and a way to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
