Objective: To provide participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to be successful leaders in the workplace.

Case Study:

We will use the case study of Allen, a young leader at a tech start-up. Allen is the leader of a team of 10 software engineers. He’s been recently promoted and is feeling the pressure to perform and live up to expectations. Allen has had some successes in the past leading smaller teams but he is feeling overwhelmed in his new role.

Plan:

  • Introduction: Introduce the workshop, explain the purpose and objectives, and set the tone for positive, productive learning.

  • Role-play: Participants will role-play different situations in which Allen might find himself as a leader and discuss how he could best respond to each.

  • Discussion: Participants will discuss how effective leadership can help to motivate and inspire team members, as well as foster an environment of collaboration and open communication.

  • Skills Workshop: Participants will learn concrete skills such as how to facilitate meetings, provide effective feedback, and how to delegate and assign tasks.

  • Application: Participants will be offered the opportunity to apply what they learned in the workshop to their own workplaces.

  • Evaluation: Participants will evaluate their own leadership styles and reflect on their strengths and weaknesses.

  • Wrap-up: The facilitator will summarize the key points covered, review the action items and goals, and answer any remaining questions.
