  3. Start writing. Using a straightforward, conversational style, explain the instructions in the order that it should be carried out.

  4. Consider the person who will be carrying out the instructions. Make sure you outline the exact steps needed to carry out the instructions in an easy to understand manner.

  5. Use descriptive language, such as active verbs and visuals (photos, diagrams, etc.) wherever possible. This will help to guide the instruction recipient through the process.

  6. Once you have finished writing the instructions, review them to ensure the steps are clear and understandable. Have another person read them to double check.

  7. Revise your instructions if needed, then publish them in their intended format.

  8. Test out the instructions to make sure they work as intended. Note any changes needed and update your instructions accordingly.

  9. After testing, review the instructions once again to ensure accuracy.
