To read an ANOVA table in SPSS, follow these steps:
-
Run your ANOVA analysis in SPSS by selecting Analyze > Compare Means > One-Way ANOVA.
-
In the One-Way ANOVA dialog box, select your dependent variable and your grouping variable.
-
Click on the Options button and select Descriptive statistics, Homogeneity tests, and Post hoc tests.
-
Click on the Continue button and then click on the OK button to run the analysis.
-
Once the analysis is complete, you will see the ANOVA table in the output window.
-
The ANOVA table will show you the sources of variation, degrees of freedom, sum of squares, mean square, F-value, and p-value for each factor.
-
The F-value represents the ratio of the between-group variance to the within-group variance. A high F-value indicates that the groups are significantly different from each other.
-
The p-value represents the probability of obtaining the observed F-value by chance. A p-value less than 0.05 indicates that the results are statistically significant.
-
You can also look at the post hoc tests to see which groups are significantly different from each other. The post hoc tests will show you the mean differences, standard errors, and confidence intervals for each pair of groups.
