Lesson 1: Who were the Vikings? Objective: Students will be introduced to the Vikings and their culture.

Content/Activities: - Introduce the Vikings by discussing who they were and where they lived. Give a brief overview of when and how long Vikings ruled a large part of the Northern Hemisphere. - Show the students some visuals of Viking art and artifacts to pique their interest. - Explain some of the basic facts about Vikings such as their attire, religion, and ships. - Use a timeline of the Viking Age to illustrate the events and eras of Viking history. - Pass out a worksheet on the Viking Age and have the students answer questions about the features and traits of Vikings. Resources: Viking artifacts from museums, visuals of Viking art, paper worksheets on Vikings, a timeline of the Viking Age.

Lesson 2: The Viking Homelands Objective: Students will be able to identify where the Viking homeland was and how it was structured.

Content/Activities: - Discuss the geography of the region where the Vikings originated, including the countries they inhabited and the seas they sailed. - Show the group a map of the Viking homelands and discuss the different regions and areas where Vikings lived. - Describe Viking life and culture, including their political systems and language. - Pass out a worksheet on the Viking homelands and have students match the names of the regions to their descriptions. Lesson 3: Daily Life in Viking Times Objective: Students will be able to identify how Vikings lived and the activities they engaged in.

Content/Activities: - Discuss daily life in Viking times and explain how they lived, ate, and worked. - Talk about typical farms and the trade goods and products the Vikings made. - Show the group a video of how Viking weapons were made and how they were used in battle. - Pass out a worksheet and have the students answer questions about Viking life. Resources:Video on Viking weapons, visuals of Viking farms and homes, paper worksheets on Viking daily life.

Lesson 4: Viking Explorations Objective: Students will be able to understand the Viking explorations and conquests.

Content/Activities: - Introduce the Viking explorations by discussing the famous Viking conquerors and the lands they traveled. - Use a map to trace the travels of the Vikings and discuss their connections with the places they conquered. - Show the group some visuals of Viking ships and explain how the ships were used in their explorations and voyages. - Pass out a worksheet and have the students fill in the blanks to better understand the Viking explorations. Resources: Map of Viking explorations, visuals of Viking ships, paper worksheets on the Viking voyages.

Lesson 5: Legacy of the Vikings Objective: Students will be able to understand the legacy and impact of the Vikings.

Content/Activities: - Discuss the legacy and impact of the Vikings, including their influence on literature and culture. - Talk about how the Vikings are remembered today and the popular culture images associated with them. - Show the group some modern movies and literature examples of Viking themes. - Pass out a worksheet and have the students answer questions about the legacy of the Viking Age. Resources: Movies and books about Viking themes, visuals of modern Viking culture, paper worksheets on the legacy of the Vikings.
