In Chapter One of Magic Carpet Slippers, we meet the protagonist, Ana. When she turns ten, her grandmother gifts her a pair of purple velvet slippers with a pattern of golden stars. Ana is enchanted by them, and pretends she's flying away on a magical carpet when she puts them on. She also creates stories about herself as a daring hero saving her kingdom from invaders.
