- Write the word “careless” on the board and ask students to identify any familiar words within it.
- Explain that “-less” is a suffix, and it changes the meaning of the word “care” to “without.”
- Provide more examples of common suffixes such as “-ful,” “-able,” “-er,” “-est,” “-ing,” “-ed,” etc.
- Discuss the meanings of these suffixes and provide examples of words that contain them.
- Encourage students to brainstorm additional words with these suffixes and share them with the class.
- Word Exercises (10 minutes)
- Distribute worksheets with word exercises, or use the whiteboard to create word examples.
