    • Discuss the meanings of these prefixes and provide examples of words that contain them.
    • Encourage students to brainstorm additional words with these prefixes and share them with the class.
  3. Suffixes (15 minutes)
    • Write the word “careless” on the board and ask students to identify any familiar words within it.
    • Explain that “-less” is a suffix, and it changes the meaning of the word “care” to “without.”
    • Provide more examples of common suffixes such as “-ful,” “-able,” “-er,” “-est,” “-ing,” “-ed,” etc.
    • Discuss the meanings of these suffixes and provide examples of words that contain them.
    • Encourage students to brainstorm additional words with these suffixes and share them with the class.
  4. Word Exercises (10 minutes)
    • Distribute worksheets with word exercises, or use the whiteboard to create word examples.
    • Ask students to identify the prefixes and suffixes in each word and explain how they change the meaning.
    • Review the answers as a class, discussing the impact of the prefixes and suffixes on the word meanings.
  5. Conclusion (5 minutes)
    • Recap the main points of the lesson, emphasizing that prefixes and suffixes can significantly alter the meanings of words.
    • Encourage students to continue exploring and identifying prefixes and suffixes in their reading and writing.
