-
Step Touch Sequence: Have students create a step-touch combination in a small circle, with each student doing their own variation. Encourage them to move to the rhythm and build up to changing directions, turning around and doing the same sequence in the opposite direction.
-
Together and Apart: Have students create a 4-measure sequence of 8 counts that can be done individually or with a partner. Give them time to practice the sequence together and have them perform with a partner and then individually for the whole class.
-
Circle Dance: Have the whole class stand in a circle and have them build on the step-touch sequence by incorporating a basic side shuffling pattern. Encourage them to move around the circle as a unit, joining hands and using the moving patterns to travel around the circle.
-
Whole Class Performance: Have the students practice their combination in a circle and then create a larger circle incorporating the partner and solo routines. Allow them some time to practice and refine the sequence, working together as a team to create a whole class performance.
