Warm-up Activity: “Family and Work”
Objective: To engage the student in a conversation about their family and work life, allowing them to share their experiences and practice their English speaking skills.
Instructions: 1. Begin the online class by greeting the student and asking how they are doing. 2. Show genuine interest in their life by asking about their family and work. 3. Use the following questions as prompts to initiate the conversation: a. How many family members do you have? b. Could you tell me a little bit about your spouse and children? c. What do you enjoy doing with your family in your free time? d. How do you manage your time between work and family responsibilities? e. What kind of work do you do? How long have you been working in this field? f. What do you like most about your job? Are there any challenges you face? 4. Encourage the student to speak freely and share their thoughts and experiences. 5. Listen actively and provide positive feedback or ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation flowing. 6. If the student is hesitant or needs assistance, provide prompts or vocabulary support as needed. 7. After the warm-up conversation, transition into the main lesson or topic for the online class.
Note: Remember to be respectful of the student’s personal life and only ask questions that they feel comfortable answering.
