Objective: To develop self-management skills and affective skills through the creation of mandalas.

Instructions for Students: 1. Introduction: - Begin the class by explaining the concept of self-management skills and affective skills. Emphasize their importance in personal growth, emotional well-being, and success in various aspects of life. - Introduce mandalas as a tool for self-expression, relaxation, and self-reflection. Explain that mandalas are geometric patterns that can be filled with colors and designs to represent one’s thoughts, emotions, and inner self.

  1. Creating Mandalas:
    • Provide each student with a blank mandala template or ask them to draw their own circular shape on a piece of paper.
    • Instruct students to divide their mandala into different sections using lines or shapes. These sections can represent different aspects of their life, such as family, friends, hobbies, goals, etc.
    • Encourage students to use colors, patterns, and symbols to fill in each section of their mandala. Explain that they can choose colors and designs that reflect their emotions, thoughts, or aspirations related to each aspect of their life.
    • Remind students to take their time and focus on the process of creating their mandalas. Encourage them to be mindful of their thoughts and emotions as they work on each section.
  2. Self-Reflection and Discussion:
    • After completing their mandalas, ask students to take a few moments to reflect on their artwork and the process of creating it.
    • Lead a class discussion by asking the following questions:
      • How did creating the mandala make you feel? Did it help you relax or focus?
      • What colors or designs did you choose for each section? Why?
      • Did you notice any patterns or themes in your mandala? What do they represent?
      • How does your mandala reflect your thoughts, emotions, or aspirations related to different aspects of your life?
      • Did creating the mandala help you gain any insights about yourself or your self-management skills?
  3. Sharing and Reflection:
    • Give students the opportunity to share their mandalas with the class, if they feel comfortable doing so. Encourage them to explain the symbolism behind their color choices, patterns, and designs.
    • Facilitate a final reflection by asking students to share their overall experience with creating mandalas and how it relates to developing self-management skills and affective skills.
    • Summarize the key takeaways from the activity, emphasizing the importance of self-expression, self-reflection, and mindfulness in personal growth and emotional well-being.

Note: It is essential to create a safe and non-judgmental environment during this activity. Encourage students to respect each other’s artwork and reflections.
