Title: “My Family”

Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to describe their family members using basic English vocabulary and sentence structures.

Materials: - Pictures of family members (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc.) - Flashcards with vocabulary words (e.g., mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather) - Whiteboard or chart paper - Markers - Worksheets (optional)

Warm-up (5 minutes): 1. Greet the students and ask them how they are feeling today. 2. Play a quick game of “Simon Says” using family member vocabulary. For example, say “Simon says touch your mother” and have the students touch the corresponding flashcard or picture.

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Show the pictures of family members and elicit the vocabulary words from the students. Write the words on the whiteboard or chart paper. 2. Use the flashcards to review the pronunciation and meaning of each word. Have the students repeat after you.

Main Activity (15 minutes): 1. Divide the students into pairs or small groups. 2. Give each group a set of family member pictures and ask them to match the pictures with the correct vocabulary word. 3. Monitor the groups and provide assistance as needed. 4. Once the groups have finished, have them share their answers with the class. Correct any mistakes and provide feedback.

Practice (15 minutes): 1. Give each student a worksheet with sentences describing family members. The sentences should have missing words that the students need to fill in. 2. Review the sentences as a class and explain any new vocabulary or sentence structures. 3. Have the students complete the worksheet individually or in pairs. 4. Collect the worksheets and provide feedback.

Wrap-up (5 minutes): 1. Ask a few students to share one sentence they wrote about their family members. 2. Review the vocabulary words and ask the students to repeat them one last time. 3. Thank the students for their participation and summarize the lesson.

Extension Activity (optional): 1. Have the students create a family tree using the vocabulary words and pictures. 2. Encourage them to label each family member and describe their relationship (e.g., “My mother’s name is Lisa. She is my grandmother’s daughter.”)
