Objective: Students will be able to design and create a model of a robot that can assist someone with disabilities.

Materials: - Cardboard boxes - Scissors - Glue - Markers - Tape - Craft materials (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (10 minutes) - Begin by asking students if they know what a robot is and what it can do. - Explain that robots can be used to help people with disabilities in many ways, such as assisting with mobility, communication, and daily tasks. - Show examples of robots used for these purposes, such as a wheelchair robot or a communication device.

  2. Brainstorming (15 minutes) - Divide students into small groups and have them brainstorm ideas for a robot that can help someone with disabilities. - Encourage them to think about the specific needs of the person they are designing the robot for, such as mobility, communication, or daily tasks. - Have each group share their ideas with the class.

  3. Designing (20 minutes) - Provide each group with a cardboard box and other materials. - Instruct them to use the materials to create a model of their robot design. - Encourage them to be creative and think about the details, such as the shape, size, and features of the robot.

  4. Presenting (15 minutes) - Have each group present their robot model to the class. - Ask them to explain how their robot can help someone with disabilities and what specific features it has. - Encourage the class to ask questions and provide feedback on each design.

  5. Reflection (10 minutes) - Ask students to reflect on the activity and what they learned. - Have them share what they enjoyed about the activity and what they found challenging. - Ask them to think about how they can apply what they learned to real-life situations.

Assessment: - Students will be assessed on their participation in the brainstorming and designing process. - Their robot models will be evaluated based on creativity, attention to detail, and how well they address the needs of someone with disabilities.
