Procedure:
- Introduction (5 minutes)
- Begin the lesson by asking students if they know what a verb is and give a few examples.
- Explain that verbs are words that show action or state of being.
- Introduce the concept of irregular past verbs, explaining that they are verbs that do not follow the regular pattern of adding “-ed” to form the past tense.
- Give examples of irregular past verbs such as “go,” “eat,” and “see.”
- Irregular Past Verb Flashcards (10 minutes)
- Show the students a flashcard with an irregular past verb written on it.
- Ask the students to identify the base form of the verb and then tell you the past tense form.
