Procedure:

Model how to write a strong opening sentence that hooks the reader. 5. Have students write their own opening sentence. 6. Discuss the importance of descriptive language and sensory details in a narrative story. 7. Model how to use descriptive language and sensory details to engage the reader. 8. Have students write a paragraph using descriptive language and sensory details. 9. Discuss the importance of a strong conclusion that wraps up the story. 10. Model how to write a strong conclusion. 11. Have students write their own conclusion.

Conclusion (10 minutes): 1. Have students share their stories with the class. 2. Discuss what makes a good narrative story. 3. Encourage students to continue practicing their narrative writing skills.

Assessment: Assess students’ writing based on the following criteria: - Clear beginning, middle, and end - Use of descriptive language and sensory details - Engaging opening sentence and conclusion - Overall coherence and organization of the story.
