Objective: - Students will expand their vocabulary by learning and using new words from a wordlist. - Students will practice using the new words in context through various activities.

Materials: - Wordlist with a variety of words (can be created by the teacher or sourced from a vocabulary resource) - Whiteboard or chart paper - Markers - Worksheets or handouts for activities

Procedure:

1. Introduction (10 minutes): a. Begin the lesson by explaining the importance of having a strong vocabulary and how it can enhance communication and understanding. b. Introduce the wordlist and explain that it contains new words that students will learn and practice using in different activities.

2. Word Exploration (15 minutes): a. Display the wordlist on the whiteboard or chart paper. b. Choose one word from the list and ask students if they know its meaning. Discuss and clarify any misconceptions. c. Model how to use the word in a sentence and encourage students to do the same. d. Repeat this process for a few more words from the list, ensuring students understand their meanings and can use them in context.

3. Vocabulary Activities (30 minutes): a. Divide the class into pairs or small groups. b. Distribute worksheets or handouts with different activities that involve using the words from the wordlist. c. Activities can include:
   • Fill in the blanks: Provide sentences with missing words from the wordlist. Students must choose the correct word to complete each sentence.
   • Synonyms and Antonyms: Provide a word from the wordlist and ask students to write a synonym and an antonym for each word.
   • Word Association: Give students a word from the wordlist and ask them to brainstorm related words or concepts. d. Monitor and assist students as they work on the activities.

5. Conclusion (5 minutes): a. Recap the new words learned from the wordlist. b. Encourage students to use the new words in their everyday conversations and written work.
