Learning Intention: Students will understand the biomechanics within a wrestling shot.

Objective: Students will be able to explain the four components of a successful wrestling shot and demonstrate the techniques of a wrestling shot.

Warm-Up: For the warm-up, have the students stand in a circle and take turns trying to take stances and shoot on a partner without actually making contact.

Instruction: 1. Explain the four steps of a successful wrestling shot: a. Setup and penetration b. Hand control and placement c. Breakdown and base d. Finish and follow-through

  1. Demonstrate the proper techniques for each step.

  2. Have students pair up and practice the wrestling shot. Monitor and correct technique as needed.

Closure: Have the students recall the four components of the wrestling shot: Setup and penetration, hand control and placement, breakdown and base, and finish and follow-through. Ask the students to explain why each step is important to the success of a shot.
