Steps:

  1. Begin the lesson by introducing the concept of addition. Ask the students if they know what it means. (5 minutes)

  2. Ask the students to draw a number line from 0 to 20 on their paper. (3 minutes)

  3. Model on the board for the students how to add 2-digit numbers within 20. Ask the students to attempt this on their own. (10 minutes)

  4. Ask the students to volunteer to come up to the board and demonstrate a few addition problems. (5 minutes)

  5. Have the students complete a worksheet with more addition problems. (7 minutes)

  6. Conclude the lesson by having a class discussion about how addition can be used in everyday life. (Do not forget to review the goal of the lesson). (5 minutes)
