Materials: - Whiteboard - Whiteboard markers - Work sheets

Procedure: 1. Introduction (5 minutes): Introduce the concept of adding two digit numbers by asking the students to explain what addition is. Review the basic ideas of addition.

  1. Modeling (10 minutes): Use the whiteboard to model a few examples of adding with two digit numbers. Use simple equations and model each step such as 7 + 15 = 22.

  2. Guided Practice (10 minutes): Provide work sheets with equations that divide into columns and provide a space to solve the addition problems. Ask students to work in pairs or individually as they complete the work sheets.

  3. Check for Understanding (5 minutes): Ask students to quickly explain what they have just learned. Ask a few questions such as “What do we need to add two digit numbers together?”

  4. Application (5 minutes): Provide a few problems for the students to solve independently to check their understanding.

  5. Conclusion (2 minutes): Summarize the key points that were covered during the lesson.

Assessment: - Observe student’s engagement - Collect work sheets - Ask students to explain what they have learned
