Objective: After this lesson, students will have an understanding of continuous improvement, the tool’s definition and the benefits of incorporating continuous improvement into their work life.

Materials: Whiteboard and markers, Handouts, Computers

Lesson: 1. Introduction (5 minutes): Begin the lesson by introducing the concept of continuous improvement to the students and explaining the benefits of it. Ask them to brainstorm different examples of continuous improvement that they are familiar with and list them on the whiteboard.

  1. Definition (10 minutes): Ask the students to look up the definition of continuous improvement online as a group or individually. After they have done this, discuss the definition and how it applies to their everyday life.

  2. Examples (15 minutes): Provide the students with handouts that include three or four examples of how organizations or businesses can use continuous improvement in their daily operations. Ask the students to discuss and analyze the examples, breaking them down into the various steps that are used in each case.

  3. Benefits (15 minutes): Ask the students to research the benefits of using continuous improvement in their everyday life. Have them discuss their findings as a group or individually and compile a list of the benefits on the whiteboard.

  4. Application (15 minutes): Allow the students time to work on their own application of continuous improvement. Ask them to create a plan for how they would use continuous improvement in their everyday life, either at the workplace or in their personal lives.

  5. Conclusion (5 minutes): Review the concept of continuous improvement and the benefits of incorporating it into their work life. Ask the students to reflect on their experience and what they have learned in the lesson.
