Learning Intention: Understand the causes of the 2008 economic crisis and the problems with centralization
Objectives:

Materials Needed: - Computers or tablets with internet access - Whiteboard/Projector - Handouts with questions about the causes of the 2008 economic crisis.
Activity 1: Introduction Display an image of the 2008 economic crisis (e.g. stock market crash) on the whiteboard/projector. Ask the students what this represents and what happened in 2008 which led to this economic crisis. Facilitate a whole class discussion on the topic.
Activity 2: Pass out the handouts with questions related to the causes of the 2008 economic crisis. As a group, have students work together to answer the questions on the handout. Lead a discussion on the answers to the questions.
Activity 3: Explain the concept of centralization and discuss its potential problems. Have students brainstorm ideas on potential problems. Lead a discussion on their thoughts.
Activity 4: Instruct students to research the causes of the 2008 economic crisis and the potential problem of centralization on the internet and report back to the class what they have found.
Closure: Have each student discuss one fact they learned from their research in Activity 4.
Assessment: Have students write a short essay on the causes of the 2008 economic crisis and the potential problems associated with centralization.
