Lesson: 1. Introduction (5 minutes): -Write the learning intention on the whiteboard and explain what the goal of today’s lesson is to students. -Explain to students the importance of being able to add two 2-digit numbers together within 20.

1. Guided Practice (10 minutes): -Have students come to the whiteboard one by one to solve adding two 2-digit numbers together within 20. -Have other students in the class give hints and advice to the student on the board. -Make sure to go over each step of their work and explain why the answer is achieved.

2. Independent Practice (20 minutes): -Hand out worksheets for students to complete. -Go around the classroom to help those who need it. -Allow some time for students to check and share their answers with one another.

3. Closure (5 minutes): -Write the final answers on the board and have students check their answers. -Explain how the question can be used in real life and how it is important to understand. -Allow a few minutes for any additional questions. -Allow students to participate in a think-pair-share to check for understanding.
