Learning Intention: Students will be able to add two-digit numbers within 20 with 90% accuracy.

Materials: - Paper - Pencils - Number cards

Procedure: 1. Begin lesson by explaining that today students will be practicing adding two-digit numbers within 20. 2. Ask students to take out paper and pencils. 3. Pass out the number cards to each student. 4. Instruct students to pick two cards and add the numbers together. 5. Review answers as a class, going over strategies for figuring out the correct answer. 6. After going over questions together, have students complete practice problems on their own. 7. Check in with students as they are working in order to answer any questions they may have. 8. After they complete their practice problems, have students put the number cards away and take an assessment. 9. Discuss results of the assessment as a class and have students identify any areas they need to review.

Closure: Review the learning intention with the students. Remind them of the strategies (such as counting on, place value, etc) they can use when adding two-digit numbers. Ask them to explain what strategies they used for certain problems in order to reinforce the learning. Thank students for their hard work and participation.
