Materials: - Multistep word problem worksheets - Pencils - Erasers - Whiteboard and markers (optional)

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin by asking students if they have ever encountered a word problem that required more than one step to solve. 2. Ask students to share their experiences and examples of multistep word problems. 3. Explain that today, we will be learning how to solve multistep word problems using all four operations.

Direct Instruction (20 minutes): 1. Provide students with a multistep word problem worksheet. 2. Model how to read the problem carefully and underline important information. 3. Demonstrate how to identify the operations needed to solve the problem. 4. Show students how to solve each step of the problem, using the appropriate operation. 5. Emphasize the importance of checking their work and making sure their answer makes sense in the context of the problem.

Guided Practice (20 minutes): 1. Have students work in pairs to solve a multistep word problem worksheet. 2. Circulate around the room to provide support and guidance as needed. 3. Encourage students to check their work and explain their reasoning to their partner.

Independent Practice (20 minutes): 1. Provide students with another multistep word problem worksheet to solve independently. 2.
