Lesson Title: Exploring Cross-Cultural Awareness through Reading

Learning Intention: Students will develop cross-cultural awareness by reading and analyzing texts from different cultures.

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin the lesson by asking students what they know about different cultures. 2. Discuss the importance of cross-cultural awareness in today’s globalized world. 3. Explain that in this lesson, students will be reading texts from different cultures to gain a better understanding of different perspectives and ways of life.

Body (40 minutes): 1. Divide students into small groups and assign each group a text from a different culture. 2. Provide students with a set of guiding questions to help them analyze the text, such as: - What cultural elements are present in the text? - How do these cultural elements shape the characters’ actions and beliefs? - What can we learn about the culture from this text? 3. Allow students time to read and analyze the text in their groups. 4. Afterward, have each group present their findings to the class. 5. Facilitate a class discussion on the similarities and differences between the cultures represented in the texts.

Conclusion (10 minutes): 1. Summarize the key takeaways from the lesson, emphasizing the importance of cross-cultural awareness. 2. Ask students to reflect on what they learned and how they can apply this knowledge in their daily lives. 3. Encourage students to continue exploring different cultures through reading and other means.

Assessment: Assess students’ understanding of cross-cultural awareness by evaluating their participation in the group discussions and their ability to analyze the texts. Additionally, assign a written reflection in which students discuss what they learned about different cultures and how they plan to apply this knowledge in their lives.
