Lesson 6 & 7: Sun Catchers
Learning Intention: Students will understand how light/sunlight interacts with different colors and how it affects the reflection.
Introduction: 1. Begin the lesson by asking students what happens when light/sunlight goes through different colors. 2. Discuss with the students if the light stays the same or if the reflection shows up in a different color.
Main Activity: 1. High Achievers/Medium Achievers: a. Instruct the students to write out an explanation of the experiment. b. Ask them to draw and label a sun catcher. c. Have the students write their predictions about what will happen when light/sunlight goes through the different colors.
- Low Achievers: a. Instruct the students to draw and label the experiment. b. Ask them to write their predictions about what will happen when light/sunlight goes through the different colors.
Create: 1. Provide each student with a piece of card/paper to keep it stable. 2. Instruct the students to fill in the card/paper with colored tissue paper. Example: They can cut out different shapes or create a pattern using the colored tissue paper.
Conclusion: 1. Have the students write up a conclusion about their findings. 2. Ask them to reflect on what they observed when the light/sunlight went through the different colors.
