Learning Intention: Students will be able to identify and label different muscles in the body.
Introduction: 1. Begin the lesson by asking the students if they know the names of any muscles in the body. 2. Discuss with the students why they think muscles are important.
Main Activity: 1. Show the students the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGSi_HwgX0k 2. After watching the video, distribute the “Muscles Worksheet” to the students. 3. Higher ability and middle ability students will label the names of the different muscles on page 2 of the worksheet. 4. Lower ability students will cut out the names of the muscles from page 1 of the worksheet and stick them in the correct places on page 2. 5. Monitor the students as they work and provide assistance as needed.
Conclusion: 1. Once the students have completed the activity, gather them together for a discussion. 2. Ask the students to share some of the muscles they labeled or stuck on the worksheet. 3. Discuss with the students the importance of muscles in the body and how they help us move and perform various tasks. 4. Recap the main points of the lesson and reinforce the learning intention.
