Begin the lesson by asking students what they already know about Ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire and write down their answers on the board (5 minutes).

Explain to students that today, they are going to be comparing and contrasting Ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire (2 minutes).

Divide the class into two groups and give each group a stack of picture cards, rulers and paper (2 minutes).

Explain to students that each team needs to work together to create a poster comparing and contrasting Ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire. The poster needs to include five differences between the two civilizations (10 minutes).
