Learning Intention: Students will be able to demonstrate the correct technique for recovering from bottom half guard in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Lesson: 1. Begin the lesson by reviewing the previous lesson on bottom half guard, discussing the concept and purpose behind it. 2. Ask the students to demonstrate the technique they learnt, and provide feedback and correction as necessary. 3. Introduce the motion for recovering from bottom half guard. Explain and discuss the important steps that must be taken to properly achieve this technique. 4. Demonstrate the motion slowly and clearly, giving the students the chance to observe and ask questions. 5. Have the students practice in pairs, providing feedback and correction as necessary. 6. After the students have had sufficient practice, have all the students partner up and practice recovering from bottom half guard at a faster pace. 7. After the students have had a chance to practice the motion, review the important points of recovery from bottom half guard, emphasizing the details that make the technique effective. 8. Finally, assess the students’ understanding, ability and execution of the technique by observing them as they practice in pairs.
