Good morning class! Today is Monday and we have a fun lesson planned for you. We are going to learn about the different types of clouds and how they form.

First, let’s start with a quick review. Can anyone tell me what a cloud is? (Pause for student responses). That’s right, a cloud is a collection of tiny water droplets or ice crystals in the atmosphere.

Now, let’s talk about the different types of clouds. There are four main types of clouds: cumulus, stratus, cirrus, and nimbus.

Cumulus clouds are big and fluffy, and often look like cotton balls. They usually mean fair weather, but can also bring thunderstorms.

Stratus clouds are flat and gray, and cover the whole sky. They often bring light rain or drizzle.

Cirrus clouds are thin and wispy, and are usually found at high altitudes. They are made of ice crystals and often mean fair weather.

Nimbus clouds are dark and heavy, and usually bring rain or snow.

Now, let’s do an activity to help us remember the different types of clouds. We are going to make our own cloud mobiles!

Materials needed: - Construction paper - Scissors - String - Markers

Instructions: 1. Cut out cloud shapes from the construction paper. 2. Use the markers to draw the different types of clouds on each shape. 3. Punch a hole in the top of each cloud. 4. Tie a piece of string through each hole. 5. Hang the clouds from a hanger or a stick to create a mobile.

As we hang our cloud mobiles, let’s review the different types of clouds and what they mean.

Great job, class! You now know about the different types of clouds and how they form. Keep an eye out for these clouds in the sky and see if you can identify them. Have a great Monday!
