Lesson Title: Tudor Monarchs

Learning Intention: To understand the Tudor Monarchs and their impact on England.

Introduction (10 minutes): - Begin the lesson by asking the students if they have heard of the Tudor Monarchs before. - Show them pictures of Henry VII, Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I. - Ask the students if they can identify any of them and what they know about them.

Main Activity (30 minutes): - Divide the class into five groups, assigning each group one of the Tudor Monarchs. - Provide each group with a set of information cards about their assigned monarch, including their birth and death dates, significant events during their reign, and any notable achievements or controversies. - In their groups, students should read through the information and discuss what they have learned about their monarch. - Each group should then present their findings to the class, using visual aids such as posters or PowerPoint presentations.

Plenary (10 minutes): - Ask the students to reflect on what they have learned about the Tudor Monarchs. - Discuss as a class the impact that the Tudor Monarchs had on England, including the establishment of the Church of England, the dissolution of the monasteries, and the expansion of the British Empire. - Encourage the students to ask any questions they may have about the Tudor Monarchs.

Extension Activity: - For students who finish early, provide them with a worksheet where they can match the Tudor Monarchs with their significant events or achievements. - Alternatively, students could create a timeline of the Tudor Monarchs, including key events and dates.

Assessment: - The teacher can assess the students’ understanding of the Tudor Monarchs through their group presentations and their participation in class discussions. - The extension activity can also be used as a form of assessment.
