Project Title: Investigating the Renaissance

Learning Outcomes: • Students will be able to identify and analyze key elements of the Renaissance, including political, social, religious, scientific, and artistic developments. • Students will be able to recognize and describe the various influences that contributed to the Renaissance. • Students will be able to relate the changes in art, literature, and culture during the Renaissance to their own experiences.

Project Tasks: Task 1: Research - Students will individually research key historic people, events, and concepts related to the Renaissance. Task 2: Presentations – For each person, event, and concept researched, students will create a PowerPoint presentation to be shared with the class. Task 3: Discussion – Students will participate in a class-wide discussion to explore the connections between their presentations. Task 4: Cultural Analysis – Students will analyze the changes in art, literature, and culture during the Renaissance and create a product (e.g. a movie trailer, collage, etc) illustrating their findings. Task 5: Reflection - Students will write a reflective essay discussing their project experience and how it changed their understanding of the Renaissance.

Materials and Resources: • Texts and primary source material related to the Renaissance • Computers & presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint) • Art supplies (for cultural analysis project) • MP3 players (for cultural analysis project)
