  3. Helping Verbs (10 minutes) a. Explain that helping verbs, also known as auxiliary verbs, assist the main verb in a sentence. b. Provide examples of helping verbs (e.g., can, will, should) and explain how they work in conjunction with the main verb. c. Write a few sentences on the board and ask students to identify the helping verb and the main verb in each sentence.

  4. Linking Verbs (10 minutes) a. Define linking verbs as verbs that connect the subject of a sentence to a noun, pronoun, or adjective that describes or renames it. b. Provide examples of linking verbs (e.g., is, am, appear) and explain how they function in a sentence. c. Write a few sentences on the board and ask students to identify the linking verb and the subject complement in each sentence.

  5. Verb Moods (5 minutes) a. Introduce the concept of verb moods, which express the attitude or state of being of the speaker. b. Explain the three main verb moods: indicative, imperative, and subjunctive. c. Provide examples of sentences in each mood and ask students to identify the mood of each sentence.

  6. Types of Verbs (5 minutes) a. Recap the different types of verbs covered in the lesson: action verbs, helping verbs, linking verbs, and verb moods. b. Ask students to provide examples of each type of verb.

  7. Practice Activity (optional) (5 minutes) a. Distribute a handout with sentences for practice. b. Instruct students to identify the type of verb used in each sentence (action, helping, linking) and the verb mood (indicative, imperative, subjunctive). c. Review the answers as a class.
