Michael and Stella are shipwrecked, meeting a wise Japanese man, Kensuke. Through friendship, courage, and love, they eventually find their way safely home.

Kensuke's Kingdom tells the story of young Michael and his dog Stella, who are stranded on an island after their sailboat mysteriously sinks. On the island, they meet an old Japanese man called Kensuke and the two form an unlikely friendship. Michael learns about Kensuke's incredible and heartbreaking past, and discovers the beauty of friendship, acceptance, and nature. Through strength, courage, and love, the two are eventually able to find a way off the island and back to the safety of Michael's family.
