- The dining hall is very quiet, with no talking or noise from the students.
- Dinah can easily see Lloyd and Harvey in the crowded dining area because they are the only ones not wearing the school uniform. They stand out from the other students.
- Lloyd, Harvey, Ian, Ingrid, and Mandy are different from the other students because they don’t listen to the Headmaster. They think he acts weird and don’t trust him, unlike the other students who just follow him without question.
- When Dinah is asked about what she thinks of the Headmaster and the school, she doesn’t give a clear answer. She doesn’t want to say what she really thinks and get in trouble.
- During the assembly, Dinah tries to leave and explore the school to find proof of the Headmaster’s strange behavior. But she gets caught by the Headmaster’s eyes and can’t move from her seat. She can’t investigate more.
- At the end of the chapter, Dinah feels something strange and realizes the Headmaster has been staring at her. She gets scared and wonders if he somehow knows what she’s thinking.
- Lloyd, Harvey, Ian, Ingrid, and Mandy don’t go to the assembly like everyone else because they know the Headmaster acts strange and they don’t trust him. They choose to stay away and not be controlled by him.
