In this workshop, students will explore the complexities of message creation in today’s media landscape. Participants will learn how to identify and deconstruct messages that are presented through a variety of sources such as TikTok videos, social media influencers, advertisements and docudramas. They will be shown how to pay attention to the subtle details of production choices like framing and music, which can be used to manipulate viewers’ emotions and perception. In addition, the workshop will cover the importance of being aware of how our own biases can be exploited to impact our interests and decisions.
