Procedure:
Introduction (5 minutes): 1. Greet the students and introduce the topic of the lesson: present simple tense. 2. Ask the students if they know what the present simple tense is and give some examples. 3. Explain that the present simple tense is used to talk about things that are always true, habits, routines, and general facts.
Presentation (15 minutes): 1. Write the present simple form of the verb “to be” on the board: am, is, are. 2. Explain that the present simple form of other verbs is the base form (infinitive) without “to”. 3. Show some flashcards with present simple verbs and ask the students to repeat after you. 4. Write some affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences on the board and explain the structure of each one. 5. Give some examples of present simple sentences and ask the students to identify the tense.
Practice (20 minutes): 1. Hand out the present simple exercises and ask the students to complete them individually. 2. Walk around the classroom and help the students who need assistance. 3. After the students finish the exercises, ask them to check their answers with a partner. 4. Review the answers with the whole class and explain any mistakes.
Production (15 minutes): 1. Divide the students into pairs or small groups. 2. Ask them to create a dialogue using the present simple tense. 3. Walk around the classroom and help the students who need assistance. 4. Ask some groups to present their dialogues to the class.
Conclusion (5 minutes): 1. Review the main points of the lesson. 2. Ask the students if they have any questions or doubts. 3. Assign homework if necessary. 4. Thank the students for their participation and attention.
