Rubric for standard CSS.7.SL.1:

  1. Novice: The student demonstrates a limited understanding of the standard. They are able to identify some basic elements of CSS, but struggle to explain their purpose or how they are used in web development. They may also have difficulty applying CSS to create a desired visual effect on a webpage.

  2. Developing: The student demonstrates a partial understanding of the standard. They are able to identify and explain some elements of CSS and their purpose in web development. They can apply CSS to create basic visual effects on a webpage, but may need guidance or support to do so.

  3. Proficient: The student demonstrates a solid understanding of the standard. They are able to accurately identify and explain elements of CSS and their purpose in web development. They can independently apply CSS to create a variety of visual effects on a webpage, and can explain the code they used and why it was effective.

  4. Advanced: The student demonstrates an advanced understanding of the standard. They are able to accurately identify and explain complex elements of CSS and their purpose in web development. They can independently apply CSS to create advanced visual effects on a webpage, and can explain the code they used in detail, including any potential limitations or alternative approaches.

  5. Exceptional: The student demonstrates an exceptional understanding of the standard. They are able to accurately identify and explain advanced elements of CSS and their purpose in web development. They can independently apply CSS to create highly sophisticated visual effects on a webpage, and can explain the code they used in depth, including any potential optimizations or enhancements. They may also demonstrate creativity and innovation in their use of CSS.
