Here are some fun and easy craft ideas for kindergarteners to make for back to school:

  1. Pencil Toppers: Cut out small shapes like stars, hearts, or animals from craft foam. Glue them to the top of a pencil to create a personalized pencil topper.

  2. Apple Prints: Cut an apple in half horizontally. Dip the cut side into red paint and press it onto a piece of paper. Add a green construction paper stem and leaves to complete the apple print.

  3. Name Tags: Provide each student with a large index card or construction paper. Have them write their name in big, bold letters and decorate the rest of the card with markers, stickers, or cut-out shapes.

  4. Bookmarks: Cut out long strips of colored construction paper. Have the students decorate them with markers, stickers, or drawings. Laminate the bookmarks to make them more durable.

  5. Paper Bag Backpacks: Give each student a small paper bag. Have them decorate the bag with markers, crayons, or stickers to resemble a backpack. They can also add straps made from colored yarn or ribbon.

  6. Paper Plate Clocks: Provide each student with a paper plate and a brass fastener. Have them draw numbers on the plate to resemble a clock face. Attach the fastener in the center and show them how to move the hands to tell time.

  7. Handprint Trees: Trace each student’s hand onto brown construction paper and cut it out. Glue the handprint onto a piece of blue construction paper to resemble a tree trunk. Have the students use green paint or markers to add leaves to the tree.

  8. Paper Chain Countdown: Cut strips of colored construction paper and have the students write numbers on them, starting from the first day of school and counting down to the last day. Connect the strips to create a paper chain and hang it in the classroom.

Remember to provide adult supervision and assistance when needed, especially when using scissors or other potentially dangerous materials. Have fun crafting and getting ready for the new school year!
