Lesson Plan: Introduction to Classroom Objects
Objective: To introduce young learners to common classroom objects and their names.
Materials: Pictures of a bag, desk, chair, and cap; flashcards with the words bag, desk, chair, and cap; a ball or other small object for a game.
Warm-up (5 minutes): - Greet the students and ask them if they know what a classroom is. - Show them pictures of a classroom and ask them to name some objects they see. - Introduce the four objects for the lesson: bag, desk, chair, and cap. - Show them the flashcards with the words and ask them to repeat after you.
Presentation (10 minutes): - Hold up the picture of a desk and say “That is a desk.” - Have the students repeat after you. - Repeat with the other objects: “This is a chair,” “That is a bag,” “This is a cap.” - Show the flashcards again and ask the students to say the words with you.
Practice (10 minutes): - Place the four objects around the room. - Give the students the ball and ask them to throw it to one of the objects. - When the ball lands on an object, ask the student who threw it to say the name of the object. - Repeat with all four objects.
Game (10 minutes): - Divide the students into two teams. - Place the four objects in a line at one end of the room. - Have one student from each team stand at the other end of the room. - When you say a word (e.g. “chair”), the students must run to the line of objects and touch the correct one. - The first student to touch the correct object earns a point for their team. - Repeat with all four objects.
Wrap-up (5 minutes): - Review the names of the four objects with the students. - Ask them to say the names of the objects without looking at the flashcards. - Thank the students for participating and encourage them to use the new words they learned in class.
