Pastoral care is an important part of my classroom - I strive to create a safe, comfortable, and accepting classroom environment, both physically and emotionally. I try to get to know each student and their individual background and situation, so that I can be sensitive to their individual needs. At the start of the year I encourage my students to get to know each other, through activities like group discussions and problem-solving activities. Additionally, I ensure that there are emotional and physical escapes provided to the students throughout the year, which allows them to take a break if they need to. I am always available to listen and provide advice or support if any students need it, and I often refer students to the appropriate support services if needed.
