- Walk around the classroom to observe and provide assistance as needed.
- Once the students have completed their representations, ask them to write the number in expanded form beside their base-ten block representation.
- Collect the whiteboards or papers for assessment.
- Task 2: Ordering Numbers (10 minutes):
- Provide each student with a set of number cards (0-9).
- Instruct the students to use the number cards to create three different two-digit numbers.
- Once they have created the numbers, ask them to arrange the numbers in ascending order from smallest to largest.
- Collect their arrangements for assessment.
- Task 3: Identifying Place Value (15 minutes):
- Display a series of two-digit numbers on the board or projector.
- Instruct the students to identify the value of the underlined digit in each number.
- Encourage them to use base-ten blocks or expanded form to help them determine the value.
