Yugoslavia no longer exists as a country. It was a socialist federation that existed from 1945 to 1992, consisting of six republics: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, these republics became independent countries. Present-day Yugoslavia is therefore known as the separate countries of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.
